FOOK2 beta over - FOOK2 RC v1.0 released!

fooklogosmallThe FOOK2 beta is since a few weeks over and FOOK2 RC [release candidate] v1.0 is available. We are sorry for the late news but the last weeks have been rather busy for some of us.

The setup for FOOK2 RC v1.0 is as usual available on our download page.

A full change long can be seen here and the readme / install instructions are here.

Besides this we opened our wiki, the FOOKIPEDIA, to the public. In future we want to move all infos on FOOK to the wiki and thus we are looking for people that help us in managing the wiki and adding content. You can already find quite some useful bits of infos on FOOK and we hope to further extend the existing stuff.

We are also working on our next patch (v1.1) that will include many fixes, script improvements, new content (Tailor maid mod integration for example) and a lot of other stuff.

I can't give any eta on the patch yet but expect some further updates on this within the next two weeks.

FOOK2 Beta Patch v1.3 finally out

fooklogosmallOk, let's make the important news short, patch v1.3 is out.

The patch is as usually available on our DL page (refresh the page if you don't see any updates) and a full change log can be seen here.

Obviously we missed our last schedule as no patch was released last week. I could now say stuff like that I (LinkesAuge) have been a bit busy in RL and that our focus was on some of the technical issues within FO3 / FOOK2 but we decided to blame the patch delay on Canada.

Despite this we will still try to release a patch every friday even if we might not be able to make that schedule sometimes.

So bad, bad Canada, don't do that again!

UPDATE: There was an issue with the WANK plugin in v1.3 which has been fixed now so get v1.3b for a correctly working WANK.

FOOK2 Texture Fix and MMM compatibility patch

fooklogosmallToday it's two good messages that I can present to all FOOK users.

The first one wasn't really good for us because we discovered an issue with a lot of our apparel textures which could cause performance issues.

For those interested in the technical details... When we made a graphical upgrade of all apparel textures we accidently saved them without mipmaps.

Yes that's a big facepalm by everyone familar with texture work.

For those that don't know for what mipmaps are used a short explanation. Mipmaps are "smaller" versions of the original texture and are used for objects at a further distance so that the graphics are easier on your comp.

Without these more resources are used than it would be actually necessary (you don't need the full details of a texture for an object that is so far away you can hardly see). So yeah, stupid error by us in this case but the good news is that we have it fixed and you can download our "Texture Fix" on our DL page here.

The file has a size of around 350 mb but will solve the mipmap problem of all affected textures and improve the overall performance with FOOK2.

I also replaced the main file setup with a new version that has the texture fix and patch v1.2 included so that new users won't have to download two big files.

I'm of course also in process of updating the mirrors which might take a while.

Now to the other good news. Thanks to Martigen we can now offer a compatibility of MMM (RC 4.1) for FOOK2 (v1.2). This means that we now also officialy "allow" the use of FOOK2 together with MMM.

If you discover a bug deactivate MMM and try it only with FOOK2 to make sure that the problem is really related to FOOK2.

So again big thx to Martigen, credits go of course to him for the compatibility patch.

The compatibility patch is also available on our download page.

FOOK2 Beta Patch v1.2 released

fooklogosmallOur weekly patch (v1.2) is now available for download. We will also try to provide a patch every friday in the future.

Many of the reported bugs and other issues were fixed as well as a lot of the great feedback used for changes, just take a look at the v1.2 patch log to get a detailed look on it.

As a little note, the previous patch as well as all other fixes are of course included in the v1.2 patch.

The patch can be as always downloaded here.

We got an amazing amount of feedback, bug reports and support and we want to thank everyone who was part of this.

We tried to fix as much as possible in the time we had but many things are of course still work in progress and will need further work.

I hope you have a bit of patience with us and understand that these things need their time.
